Johnny Depp Will Probably Kill Us All in First Trailer for Transcendence

Johnny Depp is up to no good in Wally Pfister’s directorial debut “Transcendence”. Or at least, that’s the sneaky suspicion I’m getting from this rather foreboding teaser trailer for the movie. Either that, or it’s just my Skynet bias talking. Machines, man. You can’t trust a machine that thinks it’s smarter than you. Pretty soon it’s launching nukes and building killer cyborgs with giant muscles and a foreign accent. That’s never a good sign.

Anyhoo. Take a look at the first teaser trailer for Pfister’s “Transcendence”.

Dr. Will Caster is the foremost researcher in the field of Artificial Intelligence, working to create a sentient machine that combines the collective intelligence of everything ever known with the full range of human emotions. His highly controversial experiments have made him famous, but they have also made him the prime target of anti-technology extremists who will do whatever it takes to stop him. However, in their attempt to destroy Will, they inadvertently become the catalyst for him to succeed—to be a participant in his own transcendence. For his wife Evelyn and friend Max, both fellow researchers, the question is not if they can… but if they should. Their worst fears are realized as Will’s thirst for knowledge evolves into a seemingly omnipresent quest for power—to what end is unknown. The only thing that is becoming terrifyingly clear is there may be no way to stop him.

Starring Johnny Depp, Paul Bettany, Rebecca Hall, Kate Mara, Cillian Murphy, Clifton Collins, Jr., and Morgan Freeman.

Transcending theaters next year April 18th, 2014.

Both of those sucked. Of his more recent movies, Imaginarium Of Doctor Parnasus sucked. Tourist sucked. Rum Diary sucked. Lone Ranger sucked.

Going back a while now, every sequel to the POTC sucked, Dark Shadows sucked, The Libertine sucked, Alice In WOnderland sucked, Sweeney Todd sucked, Charlie And the Chocolate Factory sucked.

Going back further, Finding Neverland sucked, The Astronaut’s Wife sucked. The Ninth Gate sucked. Cry Baby sucked. Benny Nad Joon sucked. Don Juan DeMarco sucked. Nick Of Time sucked.

The dude had like ten good movies.

When the humans think they had killed the Digtal Tonto, the ghost in the machine will either ring phones all over the world or play a nice song for everybody.
