Jolene Blalock Beams onboard Starship Troopers 3

How nuts is this? Not only is there a “Starship Troopers 3″, which by itself defies all manner of space-time logic, but some guy even made a fan site for the movie. Wait, let me repeat that: Someone has made a fan site for the third installment to a franchise that flopped around like a dead fish by its second installment. Got that? Okay, now here’s news that former Trekkie Jolene Blalock (late of the now defunct “Enterprise”) has beamed onboard the third installment of “Starship Troopers”, to be called “Starship Troopers: Marauders”.

Anyways, here’s the news from Moviehole:

The stellar cast include Casper Van Dien returning as -now Colonel- John Rico. Jolene Blalock of STAR TREK: ENTERPRISE fame is playing the tough pilot Lola Beck. Boris Kodjoe (THE GOSPEL, BOSTON PUBLIC) is playing one of the youngest generals of the Federation – Dix Hauzer. Stephen Hogan (BENEDICT ARNOLD: A QUESTION OF HONOR) is playing the charismatic Sky Marshal Omar Anoke. The Golden Globe Winner Amanda Donohoe (L.A LAW, THE LAIR OF THE WHITE WORM, BAD GIRLS) is playing Admiral Enolo Phid. Supporting cast includes Marnette Patterson as Holly Little, Jon Falkow as Jingo, Anthony Bishop as Sergeant Rye and Tanya van Graan.

In any case, the only reason I made this post is just to find an excuse to post this picture of Jolene Blalock. She’s purty.

I loved Starship Troopers, too. The second one, though, was so low budget it was ridiculous. I don’t have very high expectations for the third one.

The original Troopers film was very true to Robert A. Heinlein’s story. It wasn’t supposed to be a modern SF film. Hard to make a film of an RAH story and not come off a little dated.

RAH was making political and (for the time) radical social statement such as; If you aren’t willing to defend your country, you should not be allowed to vote. Consider the era in which he wrote the stories and you may get some insights.
