Director Jon Chu is in the process of putting his own spin on the “Masters of the Universe” franchise. Although nothing official has been set in stone just yet, the filmmaker is interested in getting Dolph Lundgren in on the action. The nine-year-old kid in me definitely wouldn’t mind seeing this happen. Of course, that kid also liked “Space Raiders,” so what does he know.
Keep in mind that Dolph might not be willing to sign on for the cameo. Even if he’s able to fit “Masters of the Universe” into his schedule, the guy could simply refuse to do it. However, Lundgren seems to have a pretty good sense of humor about himself and the roles he chooses. I’d be surprised if he turned down the opportunity for a cameo.
This is what Chu had to say about it:
I don’t know if Dolph Lundgren is around or what he’s doing but, yeah, I think that could be some fun if we could find a way. I hope he still has the loin cloth and the long hair and everything.
I’m not entirely against the idea of a “Masters of the Universe” reboot. If handled properly, it could be a hell of a lot of fun. I wouldn’t even mind a sequel. Frank Langella is still doing movies, right? I mean, when he’s not giving Barbara Walters shingles.
A very old trailer for director Gary Goddard’s “Masters of the Universe” lies below.
