Well of course they are. I’m shock Hill didn’t announce that they’re working on a trilogy. Isn’t that what every Hollywood producer does nowadays? Announced the inevitable trilogy/movie franchise news that probably will never happen?
Anyways. According to Hill, advance buzz and positive fan reactions to his and Channing Tatum’s film, about two young-looking cops sent undercover at a high school to bust drug dealers, has been so good, that the studio has already told him to start cracking on a sequel:
We are writing the sequel now. We got [the greenlight] by the studio to start writing the sequel.
But Jonah, is “21 Jump Street”, you know, good?
I’d say it’s the funniest movie I’ve ever been in—that and Superbad. It’s like a two-hour or hour-and-a-half party.
Well, that settles that, then.
I’ve actually liked everything I’ve seen from the movie so far, which, let me assure you, was surprising to me, too. Here’s a new clip from the movie. You can grab three more Red Band clips here and here. The film opens March 16, 2012, but you’ll be able to catch it early if you’re in Austin during SXSW next month.
