I’m a fan of director Jonathan Mostow, although I know not a whole lot of people are. I appreciate the man’s directing sensibilities, and I’m pretty sure I’m one of the only five people who thought his “Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines” was a superior work of action sci-fi. Mostow’s latest is “The Megas”, a comic book he created with Virgin Comics, and which he’s now looking to develop into a movie.
Jonathan Mostow will partner with Virgin Comics to develop a feature from “The Megas,” a graphic novel just published by Virgin based on a Mostow idea.
It’s unclear whether Mostow will write the script or direct the feature adaptation; he and Virgin Comics chief creative officer Gotham Chopra and CEO Sharad Devarajan will begin shopping the project shortly.
Here’s a better description of the comics from Virgin itself:
From the visionary director of Terminator 3, Jonathan Mostow, we enter the world of The Megas. Beautiful. Powerful. Better. They’re everything you’ve ever wanted to be. But at the heart of this dystopic society lies a regime struggling for control over a populace that may just be tired of being inferior. Agent Jack Madison finds himself in the middle of a maelstrom as he struggles to solve a crime and come to terms with a truth he’s not ready to face. Not to mention a mysterious symbol and the seeds of rebellion.
It doesn’t say if the “Megas” are superheroes or superpowered folks, so I’m not all that sure how this will make a good movie. Where’s the twist? I guess we’ll find out.
Personally, I’m still dying for John Woo to develop his “7 Brothers” into a movie already…
