Dracula brings his sharp teeth to 19th century London in NBC’s new horror series “Dracula”. It definitely looks like it’s got some bite to it. Ahem.
Anyhoo. Take a gander at the first trailer and some images from the upcoming show, starring Jonathan Rhys Meyers as the slick, well-dressed bloodsucker — er, I mean, bachelor. Jessica De Gouw, who was recently seen trying to put arrows into people on the CW’s “Arrow”, co-stars on the show as Mina, the woman who knocks ol Drac off his revenge schemes. It actually sounds very soap opera-ish, what with the whole revenge angle. But I guess Dracula has always been more of a “romantic” vampire than, you know, your usual vampire.
It’s the late 19th century, and the mysterious Dracula has arrived in London, posing as an American entrepreneur who wants to bring modern science to Victorian society. He’s especially interested in the new technology of electricity, which promises to brighten the night – useful for someone who avoids the sun. But he has another reason for his travels: he hopes to take revenge on those who cursed him with immortality centuries earlier. Everything seems to be going according to plan… until he becomes infatuated with a woman who appears to be a reincarnation of his dead wife.
Also starring Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Thomas Kretschmann, Katie McGrath, Nonso Anozie, Victoria Smurfit, Ben Miles, Robert Bathurst.
Coming to Fridays this Fall on NBC.
