Joseph Kahn’s Detention Finally Gets Released, Plus New Clip

Detention (2011) Movie Image

Joseph Kahn’s “Detention”, the former music video director’s big-screen follow-up to his badly received motorcycle actioner “Torque” (a film that I personally liked, but then again, that may just be the former rider in me talking), has been playing the festival circuit for what seems like forever now. Crowds seem to totally dig it, too. It feels like it’s been ages since we’ve seen anything from the film, which is billed as a horror/comedy/sci-fi mash-up about teenagers in high school battling a crazed, masked killer during the prom. Then kids get detention or something. I mean, it’s right there in the title, right?

Fans of “Detention”, and those curious about it, will finally get to see the film when Samuel Goldwyn Films takes a chance and releases the movie into theaters April 13th, 2012. Unfortunately “Detention” will only be showing “exclusively” in AMC theaters, including a handful of screens around the country and parts of Canada.

For the full updated list of theaters locations, head over to the film’s official site.

Meanwhile, here’s a new clip from the film that you can take a gander at below:
