“Oblivion” duo Tom Cruise and Joseph Kosinski apparently had such a nice time working together on the sci-fi alien invasion movie earlier this year that they’ve decided to re-team, this time for the car racing flick “Go Like Hell”.
Originally slated to be directed by Michael Mann, the film will now have Kosinski making his first non-sci-fi debut behind the camera for Fox.
Based on the book by A.J. Baime, “Go Like Hell: Ford, Ferrari and Their Battle for Speed and Glory at Le Mans” will chronicle the true story of the competition between the Ford Motor Company and Italian sports car designer Enzo Ferrari, and their battle for supremacy at the 1966 Le Mans race.
Kosinski, known primarily as the director of sci-fi movies “Tron: Legacy” and “Oblivion”, is looking to branch out into other genres. But the film will still be shiny and go zoom-zoom-zoom, right?
The script, we’re told, will be re-rigged for Cruise and Kosinksi. Does that mean more aliens?
This, of course, won’t be Cruise’s first movie behind the wheel. As you’ll recall, he played the awesomely named Cole Trickle in 1990’s NASCAR movie “Days of Thunder”.
