Check out four new images from Spike Lee’s upcoming “Oldboy”, the remake of the South Korean film of the same name. I’m frankly shocked they kept the original title, given American studios’ bad habit of giving “action-packed” titles to their movies, especially ones with titles like, well, “Oldboy”. But hey, give them credit when they deserve it, they stuck to the original title.
The new images also gives us our first look at Elizabeth Olsen, playing the young woman who helps our hero find the men who imprisoned him. Sparks fly, as they invariably do when you decide to help a dude who has been imprisoned for the last 20 years.
An advertising executive is kidnapped and held hostage for 20 years in solitary confinement. When he is inexplicably released, he embarks on an obsessive mission to discover who orchestrated his punishment, only to find he is still trapped in a web of conspiracy and torment.
The remake also stars Samuel L. Jackson, Michael Imperioli and Sharlto Copley., and is currently scheduled for November 27th. I say currently because the movie has moved around the schedule a number of times.
