Still not sold on Spike Lee’s remake of Park Chan-wook’s “Oldboy”? I don’t blame ya. I’m not even sure why they’re keeping the title. Seems odd to me. Given the original’s popularity with audiences and critics, Lee’s already got a lot to live up to, and keeping the title seems like unnecessary added pressure. But hey, maybe that’s just me.
Check out a new poster for “Oldboy”, featuring star Josh Brolin realizing that he has to think outside the box in order to beat his captors. Get it? Ahem.
Oldboy is a provocative, visceral thriller that follows the story of an advertising executive who is abruptly kidnapped and held hostage for 20 years in solitary confinement. When he is inexplicably released, he embarks on an obsessive mission to discover who orchestrated his bizarre and torturous punishment only to find he is still trapped in a web of conspiracy and torment.
The remake certainly has a killer cast. Not just Brolin, but also Elizabeth Olsen and Sharlto Copley, along with Michael Imperioli, Samuel L. Jackson, and “Fringe’s” Lance Reddick.
Breaking loose this October 25th.
