Journey into the Dark with a New Thor: The Dark World Featurette

The Dark Elves in Thor The Dark World (2013) Movie Image

Check out a new featurette for Marvel’s upcoming “Thor: The Dark World”, which takes you behind the scenes in a two-minute clip, featuring tons of new footage and some really cool shots of the boys (and their hammers) in front of the camera. It certainly looks like much of the film will take place beyond our world, which is a good idea given how self-contained the first movie was.

Bigger, more colorful, and more monsters seems to be the name of the game in the Alan Taylor-directed sequel.

Thor battles to save all the Nine Realms from a mysterious enemy older than the universe itself. However, a shadowy race led by Malekith, who is out for revenge, intends to descend the universe into darkness. Confronted by an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot overcome, Thor must reunite with Jane Foster and set out on a dangerous journey that will force him to make the ultimate sacrifice.

Starring Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Stellan Skarsgård, Idris Elba, Christopher Eccleston, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Kat Dennings, Ray Stevenson, Zachary Levi, Tadanobu Asano, Jaimie Alexander, Rene Russo and Anthony Hopkins.

Travel into the dark this November 8, 2013.

who’s this mysterious enemy that is older than the universe?

    • Dedpool

      OOOhhh Maybe the Midgard Serpent!!

      • Juggernaut

Are you talking about the same Serpent from the miniseries Fear Itself?! Because, if so, that would be epic! Even if they just introduce him as the puppet master behind the Dark Elves’ plan in this one and set up him and the The Worthy being brought in for Thor 3 it would be sooooo cool! Obviously they’d need to swap out some of the members of the worthy for right reasons but even if they used some of Thor’s other villains could fill the slots.

      • Juggernaut

They obviously couldn’t use Kuurth breaker of stone aka Juggernaut or Angir breaker of souls aka Thing because those characters are owned by Fox but most of the others like Greithoth breaker of wills aka Absorbing Man, Skirn breaker of men aka Titania and Mokk breaker of faith aka Grey Gargoyle are all classic Thor villains (Titania has been affiliated with Fantastic Four at times but she could be in) would all be able to be used as The Serpent’s elite team.

Nerkkod breaker of oceans aka Attuma, who is a Sub-Mariner enemy and Skadi the herald aka Sin, usually a Captain America foe and Nul breaker of worlds aka Hulk could be in there topo. That would be a great cameo for Hulk and a real cool way to incorporate some of the other already established characters from the cinematic universe as Marvel is known to do.

However, a more likely waay to go and in my opinion equally as cool idea would be to use The Wrecking Crew (Wecker, Bulldozer, Piledriver and Thunderball and alternate member Excavater) to round out members of The Worthy!

No not that guy. The Midgard serpent is litteraly a giant snake like dragon that encircles the earth or something to that effect.

Was acharacter during the Walt Simonson years.

they just did an episode on Avengers Assemble on him. I feel like its a good story to it, but not a great character cause the two main villains for both movies have been talkers.

          • Juggernaut

Actually, a good way to recognize the two different versions of The Serpent from the comics (Fear Itself and the Midgard Serpent from the Simonson run) would be if they had the main antagonist be Skadi the herald (ditch Sin and have the character look like the Fear Itself version of The Serpent) in the first act.

He uses an elite hand picked group of warriors he calls The Worthy (showing each of them receiving a mystical weapon, like in Fear Itself, that grants them tremendous powers) as his pawns to try to weaken Thor and his allies in the second act.

Finally Skadi unleashes the reptile version of the Serpent to destroy all of the 9 realms forever.

            Or something like that.
