Julia Roberts to Menace Tarsem Singh’s Snow White

Looks like Charlize Theron will have major competition in the category of Evilest Queen in a Snow White Re-Imagining Movie, with this news that Julia Roberts has all but signed on to play said Evil Queen in Tarsem Singh and Relativity’s own version of the Snow White fairytale.

Relativity’s version will be called “The Brothers Grimm: Snow White”, not to be confused with Universal’s “Snow White and the Huntsman”, or that one with the Dwarfs as kung fu guys. Universal’s version is ahead of everyone in the casting department, with Viggo Mortensen, Theron, and “Twilight’s” Kristen Stewart in the three primary roles. Relativity, meanwhile, has Roberts, which means they have some casting to do. In particular, finding their Snow White.

In any case, it certainly sounds like Roberts’ Evil Queen will have more to do than Theron in “Huntsman”, which plans to focus more on the Huntsman and Snow White as the name probably already implies.

One thing’s for sure: when the Evil Queen in “Brothers Grimm” laughs that evil laugh of hers, walls will shake. Cause, you know, Julia Roberts knows how to open that mouth and let out a laugh like no one’s business. I’m just saying. The girl can let out a real howler.

Do we really need a darker, live action take on Snow White? Let alone TWO!!! I don’t get the “fairy tales being made into dark dramas” thing. It seems like they are everywhere. That and every few years a new take on The Wizard Of Oz or Alice In Wonderland. WTF!!!
