Fans of “The Hunger Games” knows that Donald Sutherland plays the futuristic evil President Snow, but what they may not know (well, unless they’ve read the books, anyway) is that there is another President, Alma Coin, who shows up in the final book “Mockingjay” (now the final two movies in the series). Coin leads the rebellion against Snow, and battles him for control of the franchise’s fictional Panem.
With Sutherland playing such a force of nature, you would probably need someone almost equally tough-minded and potentially dangerous. Try Julianne Moore, who is reportedly being “eyed” for the very pivotal role by director Francis Lawrence.
Of course, it may or may not happen. Moore isn’t exactly known for blockbuster movies. The lady prefers to do the smaller ones that she enjoys, like the recent “Don Jon” with Joseph Gordon-Levitt, though given how little screentime she’s given in the trailer, you might not even know she’s in that movie.
The sequel to “The Hunger Games”, “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” opens later this year on November 22nd. It will be followed by “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1” a year later, and a year after that, “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2”.
Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, and Liam Hemsworth are also expected back for all three remaining parts, with Francis Lawrence, who replaced original director Gary Ross, directing.
