It looks like the Justice League movie is not just happening, but it’s going to be the first of many installments in a growing franchise, if director George Miller and the studio have their way. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Hollywood was hosting a major casting couch over the weekend by George Miller, who flew in from Australia to test a group of young actors for roles in the upcoming movie. And I do mean young actors, if the names are any indication. So who are up for the roles of Superman, Wonder Woman, Batman, Flash, Aquaman, Green Lantern and the Martian Manhunter? Basically every stud and studette Hollywood has to offer. This movie is going to be young, but maybe I’m wrong (God, please let me be wrong).
Here is the list of actors auditioning for various parts: Adam Brody (Fox’s “The O.C.”), Joseph Cross (“Running With Scissors”), D.J. Cotrona (“Windfall”), Mary Elizabeth Winstead (“Grindhouse”), Michael Angarano (“Sky High”), Teresa Palmer (“Wolf Creek”), Max Thieriot (“Jumper”) and rapper Common.
If the names feel young, it’s because Miller is looking for actors to grow into their roles over the course of several movies. Sources say Miller, known to be a methodical director, is testing not only for the roles themselves but how the actors interact with one another while keeping an eye on the look of the whole group. The director is due to present his findings to the studio midweek.
No doubt Mary Elizabeth Winstead is up for Wonder Woman, as are the ladies of Friday Night Lights, Minka Kelly and Adrianne Palicki.
If Miller is smart, he’ll go with Palicki. She’s not only very attractive, but she has the tall physique (she stands a whopping 5’11”) to pull off playing a young Amazonian princess.
