Kate Beckinsale Confirms No Underworld 3 For Her

It’s been reported here more than once that Kate Beckinsale, star of the first two “Underworld” movies, won’t be returning to part 3, “Rise of the Lycans”, and that Rhona Mitra will effectively be replacing her in the franchise. Now Kate has confirmed it to IESB — no “Underworld 3″ for her, not even a cameo!

More:

Kate Beckinsale revealed today at the junket for her new film, Snow Angels, that she won’t be returning to the Underworld franchise — at least not anytime soon.

Beckinsale did offer that she’d like to maybe one day “pull a Bruce Willis” and return to her character at 50. (How a vampire gets to 50, I have no idea.)

But unfortunately for fans, there’s no cameo appearance in the upcoming third film, Underworld: Rise of the Lycans due next year.

Shame, really, as no one looks better in tight leather than Kate Beckinsale. Seriously, if the girl gave up acting tomorrow and started a clothing line of tight black leather and did all the modeling for it herself, this thing would sell like hotcakes — all to guys, of course.

I thought both Underworld films were horrible and wish the series would just die. I just don’t find anything appealing about battles between werewolves and vampires when most of the fighting is done with guns. Also, I can’t help but laugh every time I hear the name “Corvinus.” But I’m sure the studio will keep pumping out sequels as long as they’re profitable. So, assuming each Underworld film is 3 years apart, when Kate’s ready for her cameo at age 50, it’ll likely be in Underworld VIII.

I remember the first time I ever thought of the idea of werewolves and vampires in battle, and a hybrid of the two. I was about 8, and I was writing ideas down for a “future writing project”. I loved the movies, if for no otherrason than taking me back to my youth. Mine wuld have been better though, as, in agreement with Taylor above, there would have been a little less guns. Definitely a counted loss though, without Kate’s return.

The creativity in these films combined with the action and Kate (despite the unattractive short hair) make for incredible movies. I will mourn her departure but I welcome Rhona and her long hair. She is a beauty and talent that has been long overlooked. She should have been Lara Croft but unfortunately the tattoo freak got that role instead. I hope they keep making “Underworld” sequels because I really enjoy them. In these times I do not actually go to the movies that often but whenever an “Underworld” sequel comes out I will be there with cash in hand and for the DVD as well.

OMG! I cant believe Kate Beckinsale wont appear in the third Underworld. She was awesome in the first two movies, and damn sexy in that leather suit of hers. Especially jumping off the building in the first one and landing sexily on her feet on the ground!!! What the point of going to see The third underworld if Kate Beckinsale wont be in it???! I mean, i cant really dis the new girl thats gonna play sonja, and i cant really say anything since i havent really seen her acting skills, or how she looks. But come on people. SHE CANT REPLACE THE DROP DEAD GORGEOUS KATE BECKINSALE!!!
