Katie Holmes Isn’t Afraid of The Dark
Don't Be Afraid of the Dark (Remake) Movie, Horror Movie News — By Nix on May 7, 2009
Katie Holmes has stepped out of the darkness that is being married to Tom Cruise to star in the remake of “Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark” for Miramax Films. The remake is based on a 1973 ABC TV movie about a young girl who moves in with her father and his girlfriend and discovers they are sharing the house with devilish creatures. And you thought your biggest problem was roaches! No word on what role Holmes will play, though it’s doubtful it’ll be as the “young girl”. Maybe as the girlfriend, though. Evil, sexy girlfriend, if we’re lucky.
Variety says Troy Nixey will be making his feature-film directorial debut with the film, and will be working from a script by Guillermo del Toro and Matthew Robbins. The studio will be selling it as a Del Toro film, too, with the movie expected to have “Guillermo del Toro Presents” in the title ala John Carpenter and Wes Craven.
Shooting on the film will commence this Summer in Melbourne, Australia.
