Kerry Washington Needs Saving in Django Unchained

Kerry Washington has officially landed the female lead in Quentin Tarantino’s spaghetti Western “Django Unchained”.

The “Lakeview Terrace” and “For Colored Girls” actress will play the awesomely named Broomhilda, the wife of Jamie Foxx’s hero, a former slave turned bounty hunter who goes on an epic quest to save her from the clutches of the villainous Calvin Candie, to be played by Leonardo DiCaprio with, one presumes, a wicked (re: over-the-top) Southern accent and/or drawl.

Samuel L. Jackson will co-star as Candie’s right hand man, while Christoph Waltz will play a German bountyhunter who not only frees Django from enslavement, but also teaches him the tools of the trade. Kurt Russell and Don Johnson are also in the cast.
