Comic Book Movie News, Featured, Kick Ass (2010) Movie, Videos — By Nix on August 9, 2009In my Comic-Con ‘09 coverage I told you that Matthew Vaughn’s “Kick-Ass” panel was probably the best of the con, if the reaction to all the clips and trailer that Vaughn and company showed was any indication. Here’s that 90-second trailer. It’s strictly NSFW thanks to some crude language and an insane amount of violence, many of which come at the hands of the tweener Hit-Girl. The film doesn’t have a distributor yet, and it’s independently financed, so I’m still not sure why Vaughn hasn’t released an official version of the trailer just to more buzz for the movie. In any case, here is the bootleg version, get it while it’s still online.

Stupid and cheap looking. I’d be surprised if this gets picked up by anybody. And if it does, it’ll set the legitimacy of comic book movies back a few years.

People were worried about the perceived legitimacy of comic book movies years ago when many fans thought that things like The Hulk wouldn’t get picked up. They’re a proven cash cow now, your fear is literally an impossibility.
As for the movie, looks like a funny spoof of traditional super hero movies. I’d like to see it.

Have you even read the books this is based upon or have any knowledge about where the source material is coming from?
Kick-ass is supposed to look like a joke and the Red Mist is just a perpetually stoned rich boy… that whole cheap and stupid look is kinda at the heart of the two characters and what they’re trying to do with their exploits.
And when it comes to the film being picked up, it most definitely will… wait for the actual legitimate trailer that’s meant for people unfamiliar with the book and you’ll see all the hook you’ll need to get people in the theatres.

“Matthew Vaughn saw his movie version of KICK ASS turned down by every major studios back when it was only in script stage, being told it was too violent and lewd. But when footage screened at Comic Con had folks on their feet in cheers, things changed.
According to The Hollywood Reporter’s Risky Biz Blog, 3 studios are currently duking it out to pick up the film, even with a high 7-figure price tag and subsequent percentage deal for Vaughn. Lionsgate, Paramount and Universal are the ones trying to give Matt the last laugh.”

Looks fucking lame and I’m glad. Sorry I ain’t buying it. Looks cheap, unfunny and like a waste of money. For all the hype, the concept as a comic looked stupid and now as a movie it looks even worse.
looks sweet. the lofi quality keeps in line with the style and feel or the comic, which i also love.

Havent read the comics but looked good to me. I’ve been keeping up with the idea and the story though. The lo budget look matches not only the comic but the general feeling the story is supposed to tell. Real life normal people, trying to atain the hollywood/comicy look and feel of superheroes. Where did Peter Parker get that suit from? I know he didn’t make that at home. WAAAY too complicated. Kick Ass is all about if a regular person decided to go out nad be a vigilante, but they didn’t have access to the resources heroes seem to have in comics and movies. I can’t wait.
*sigh* people, people, people… the movie isnt really bad quality, just looks that way because this is a bootleg copy…ive talked to people who have seen the trailer at comic-con and it doesnt look like it had a low budget at all…
WTF was that. This is going to bomb big. This MIGHT work as a comic book, but as a live action, oh hey look an insanely young child actress kicking ass, swearing, and just plain killing. Is she whoring herself for rent as well?
Yes she’s whoring herself, to Lionsgate after they won the fight between themselves, Paramount and Universal for this movie that is apparently going to suck because of this ultra violent preteen. I for won will be helping to pay for her college education. Oh and her pimp’s name is Matt Vaughn. CHUUCH!!!
I haven’t read the comics or anything, but this movie looks like it is going to be amazing. this looks like it is going to be the best spoof movie since scary movie 1. can’t wait until april to come
