“The Hunger Games” meets “The Bachelor”? That’s apparently the premise of Kiera Cass’ upcoming book “The Selection”, which won’t be going to a movie screen near you anytime soon. That’s because the CW has already snapped up the book for a TV series from producers Elizabeth Craft and Sarah Fain.

The premise?

“The Selection” is an epic romance set 300 years in the future which centers on a poor young woman who is chosen by lottery to participate in a competition to become the next queen of a war-torn nation at a crossroads.

Kinda sounds like “The Hunger Games” a little bit, I guess, but that might just be the whole young teen heroine in a dystopian society setting, which is nothing new. Throw a rock into the current crop of Young Adult novel world and you’re liable to hit a few hundred titles.

The book won’t be released until April 24, 2012 from HarperTeen in case you were wondering, so this novel cover is all you have to go on at the moment:
