Kirshner, Others Join 30 Days of Night Sequel Cast

Columbia Pictures and Ghost House Pictures’ sequel to David Slade’s 2007 vampire movie “30 Days of Night” have commenced shooting as we speak, which means a lot of the cast are already in place, though oddly enough, still no word if another actress will be taking over Melissa George’s role from the first movie. In lieu of that, here are some notable casting news, including Mia Kirshner (left) as the lead vampire/villain of the piece, Lillith. Kirshner is no stranger to gothic/dark comic book movie sequels, having starred in “The Crow: City of Angels”, though she hasn’t had a major role in a while, with the last one being Brian De Palma’s “The Black Dahlia” in 2006.

Other members of the cast include two former “Lost” castaways Harold Perrineau (also in “28 Weeks Later”) and Kiele Sanchez (recently in “A Perfect Getaway”). Also along for the ride are model-turned-actress Diora Baird, Rhys Coiro (”Entourage”), and Monique Ganderton.

Here’s a new synopsis for the movie:

After nearly a year of struggling to expose the truth, a desperate and lonely Stella decides to join a group of rogue vampire hunters to seek revenge on Lilith, the powerful vampire responsible for the attack on her Alaskan town…

Again, no word on who will be playing Stella, the female lead in the movie. Did Sam Raimi and company finally convince Melissa George to return? I guess we’ll find out in the coming days. With the film already shooting, they best get themselves a Stella soon. Mind you, not that George coming or not will break the movie. It’s all about the vampires, isn’t it?

The direct-to-DVD sequel, to be directed by Ben Ketai, is expected to land on Blockbuster shelves in 2010.

This is Diora Baird. Cause I figured you'd rather see her than the guy from Lost.

Still think Baird should be playing the Enchantress in Thor but whatever. I’m down for the sequel as long as they put some decent effort into it. The first was underrated in my opinion.
