Tired of being chased around the woods by hunky teen werewolves and vampires, Kristen Stewart will now be chased around the woods by Viggo Mortensen and Charlize Theron in “Snow White and the Huntsman”. The “Twilight” star has entered negotiations to star in director Rupert Sanders’ re-imagining of the Snow White fairytale for Universal, as the studio tries to beat two other rival Snow White projects to the big screen. And with Mortensen onboard as the Huntsman and Charlize Theron as the Evil Queen, it looks like they may actually get there first.
In Sanders’ version of the fairytale, the Huntsman, sent to slay the teenage beauty by her evil stepmom the Queen, instead takes the girl under his wings and teaches her how to survive in the woods. Hopefully it’ll be a platonic relationship, because anything else would just be, well, creepy.
While Universal has screen tested other actresses for the role, they’ve always wanted Stewart, which is the smart casting given her legion of “Twilight” fans. And “Snow White and the Huntsman” is certainly more in line with her fanbase than, say, her last film, the indie drama “Welcome to the Rileys”. That one, yeah, didn’t do much for anybody whatsoever.
