Remember that far-fetched rumor a while back that Kristen Stewart was in the running for “Wanted 2″, replacing Angelina Jolie who has no interest in coming back to the hit franchise? It might not be so far-fetched after all. According to Kristen Stewart herself, she would be up for the role “as long as it was good”, meaning the story for the sequel. But of course, that’s what every actor says about a movie: “if the script is right, blah blah blah”.
Stewart says she isn’t “officially” cast in the film, but it certainly sounds like she’s trying to hint that there are things going on in the background. Negotiations, perhaps?
Whoever ends up replacing Angelina Jolie (though probably not her Fox character, just the “female lead” role that Jolie filled in the first movie), Timur Bekmambetov is expected back to direct, along with James McAvoy as the male lead. Of course, McAvoy is currently busy with Matthew Vaughn’s “X-Men: First Class”, so it’ll be a while before he’s available to do a sequel for “Wanted”. By then, maybe the sequel will have found itself a leading lady, and perhaps it might just be Kristen Stewart.
So, can Kristen Stewart really be convincing leaping around screen throwing lead? You decide.
