Mila Kunis and Justin Timberlake are friends with benefits in a movie called “Friends with Benefits”. Yeah, they didn’t exactly bust their chops to come up with a clever title, this one. Hey, at least it’s slightly better than “No Strings Attached”, the OTHER “two young pretty friends try to have sex without complications but discover it can’t be done” movie starring Natalie Portman and Ashton Kutcher. Okay, so not really. On the plus side, “Benefits” has Mila Kunis acting all guy-like and stuff, while Timberlake is like all chick-like and stuff. Which is novel, I thought. Plus, Woody Harrelson plays the token gay best friend, while Patricia Clarkson is the token wacky mom, and I actually chuckled a time or two at the trailer, which was surprising.
Dylan (Justin Timberlake) and Jamie (Mila Kunis) think it’s going to be easy to add the simple act of sex to their friendship, despite what Hollywood romantic comedies would have them believe. They soon discover however that getting physical really does always lead to complications.
Starring Justin Timberlake, Mila Kunis, Woody Harrelson, Patricia Clarkson, Richard Jenkins and directed by Will Gluck, who found himself with a surprise hit in last year’s “Easy A”. (That film’s star, Emma Stone, has a cameo in this one.)
