Kurt Russell is joining the cast of James Wan’s “Fast and Furious 7″, taking over a role that was reportedly originally offered up to Denzel Washington.
There’s no word on what the role is, but if the filmmakers thought enough of it to offer it to Denzel Washington, it has to be big, right? Or at least, a major role.
This won’t be the first role for Kurt Russell involving killer cars. He starred in Quentin Tarantino’s “Death Proof” as a serial killer car stuntman.
The latest installment in the car racing turned caper franchise will return stars Vin Diesel and Paul Walker, along with Jordana Brewster, Dwayne Johnson, and pretty much everyone who survived the last movie, which made a cool $750 million worldwide for Universal. That’s not a bad haul for what is essentially a movie written by 10-year olds.
“Fast and Furious 7″ will shoot later this Fall for a 2014 release, with Jason Statham playing the main villain.
