Kutcher’s Five Killers Adds Seleck, O’Hara, and Mull

As a general rule, movies starring Ashton Kutcher rarely interest me. Hey, I gotta hang onto my geek cred anyway I can, you know. But there’s something about his latest, “Five Killers”, that makes me think I might enjoy it. Or maybe it’s just the premise, about a hitman who retires when he falls for his latest victim and gets married, only to find himself targeted years later. It’s also supposed to be an action-comedy, and for some reason, Hollywood always seems to do action-comedies about hitmen very well.

Via THR, comes news that “Five Killers” has added three more to its cast:

Tom Selleck, Catherine O’Hara and Martin Mull have joined the cast of “Five Killers,” a Lionsgate action comedy that stars Ashton Kutcher and Katherine Heigl.

The story follows a hitman (Kutcher) at the top of his game who falls for a computer tech (Heigl) and decides to hang up his guns. Years later, their suburban bliss is ruptured when he finds out there’s a hit out on him, forcing him and his spooked wife to go on the run.

Selleck and O’Hara will play Heigl’s overprotective father and adoring mother. Mull will play Holbrook, Kutcher’s handler.

Bob DeRosa and Ted Griffin wrote the script for the film, which is being eyed for a 2010 release. I’m thinking “The Whole Nine Yards” before the unnecessary sequel. Should be good for a couple of laughs, I would imagine. And if not, eh, maybe they can throw in a totally gratuitous nude shot with Heigl ala Amanda Peet in the aforementioned “The Whole Nine Yards”. One can dream.
