Lakeshore Targets EcoTerrorism with Scent of Adam
The Scent of Adam (2009) Movie — By Nix on April 9, 2008
It’s about time someone made a movie these so-called “ecoterrorists”. Who are they? What do they really want? And how did they convince themselves that going around burning down newly built homes will somehow change the world? Maybe Lakeshore’s upcoming “The Scent of Adam” will tackle those subjects, and maybe it won’t, but one thing’s for sure: When you compare yourself to the “Bourne” films, you better deliver on the action thriller aspect, or else you’re selling us swamp in Florida. The movie will be based on a fiction book by Jean-Christophe Rufin.
More:
The project is based on Jean-Christophe Rufin’s best-selling French novel “Le parfum d’Adam,” about a woman who unwittingly finds herself at the heart of the ecoterrorism movement and conspiracy after freeing lab animals at a research facility in Poland. The book will be published soon in the U.S.
“This is an extraordinary and very contemporary spy thriller from an extraordinary man,” Rosenberg said. “Rufin’s fast-paced narrative entertainingly explores important issues at the forefront of global concern.”
Added Binet, “We envision an action-packed feature shot in multiple global locations, similar to the ‘Bourne’ features, and are delighted to have Lakeshore as our producing partner in this project.”
I’m still not sure how it’ll work — ecoterrorism as vehicle for a “global conspiracy?” Since it’s a French book, and the French apparently have some wacky ideas, the U.S. Government and the CIA will probably be involved or some such. Still, sounds intriguing.
