Last Airbender Clips: Aang Kicks Serious Ass, Zuko vs. Katara

Paramount has released two more clips from M. Night Shyamalan’s “The Last Airbender”. They’re both pretty short, but definitely worth checking out: the first one has Aang fighting his way through a courtyard full of bad guys using his powers, and the second one is a battle between Katara and Zuko, a battle of fire vs. water. And in case you missed it, I’ve added a previously released third clip, featuring the ominous arrival of the Fire Nation.

Air, Water, Earth, Fire. Four nations tied by destiny when the Fire Nation launches a brutal war against the others. A century has passed with no hope in sight to change the path of this destruction. Caught between combat and courage, Aang (Noah Ringer) discovers he is the lone Avatar with the power to manipulate all four elements. Aang teams with Katara (Nicola Peltz), a Waterbender, and her brother, Sokka (Jackson Rathbone), to restore balance to their war-torn world. Based on the hugely successful Nickelodeon animated TV series, the live-action feature film “The Last Airbender” is the opening chapter in Aang’s struggle to survive.

Starring Jackson Rathbone, Dev Patel, Cliff Curtis, Seychelle Gabriel, Noah Ringer, Nicola Peltz, Shaun Toub, Jessica Andres, Aasif Mandvi, Katharine Houghton, Keong Sim, and directed by M. Night Shyamalan.

The battle commences July 2, 2010.

I won't lie the Aang clip looked a little off. I don't know if it was the editing, the music (there was very little sound effects) or the way he moved, but I still liked the variety of craziness he did with the water. The Zuko v. Katara fight was FIRE!!!! PUN Intended!!!

I thought it was kinda cool, the Aang clip. A bit too much wirework, but that's to be expected, right? It did kind of look unnatural at some points, but I'm going to pass that off to Shyamalan being inexperienced with wirefu.

Actually I think it was the fact that it was all in slow mo that made it a little jarring. Had he done the slow/fast Snyder mix it woulda probably flowed better. LoL. But all in all looks good.

The first time I saw the Aang clip, it was off to me, but the second time it looked better for some reason. Clearly there was a lot happening before this clip, so it probably was fast, then this slow scene than fast again…I bet the entire scene will be HOT!!! The second scene looked good as well. I'm seeing this movie reguardless!

Don't get me wrong, I'm seeing this no matter what. I missed a couple of things in the theatres this year but I'm not missing this!!! I'm sure the whole battle scene is sick, including the back to back fight with the Blue Spirit, and him going into the Avatar State! Can't Wait til this weekend.

It's going to be awful if the only way Zuko bends is if fire is present before hand?????

I think they did that with fire benders in the film to kinda level the playing field a bit. But who knows.
