The Bond movies are such a great way for an unknown (or relatively unknown) actress to get her name and face (and invariably, body) out there to the masses, that every agent and manager worth their salt floats their client’s name as being the “next Bond girl” at least once or twice in hopes of actually making it happen. The latest rumored addition to the Bond Girl cadre is British actress Gemma Arterton.
The folks over at Empire claims to have a source that confirms Arterton, who can also be seen in Guy Ritchie’s “RocknRolla”, as the next Bond girl, although how big her role will be is still unknown. Since Arterton seems to be an actress of good standing, we’re guessing a pretty big role, if the rumor is true. Then again…
More about Arterton from Wikipedia:
Born in Kent, her father is a welder and her mother a cleaner, and Gemma has a younger sister. After attending a Grammar School near Gravesend, Arterton gained a place at RADA on a full grant, from where she graduated from in 2007. Arterton made her stage debut as Rosaline in Shakespeare’s Love’s Labour’s Lost at the Globe Theatre, London. She made her film debut in the 2007 St Trinian’s movie St Trinian’s as Head Girl Kelly, a role she gained in competition with Sienna Miller.
Not just a pretty face, but an actual actress, it would appear.
