Leatherface 3D Gets Taken with New Director

“Leatherface 3D”, the third in the rebooted “Texas Chainsaw Massacre”, er, reboot, is in the process of securing a director in “Takers'” John Luessenhop.

It’s unclear how exactly “Leatherface 3D” fits into the “TCM” franchise, though reports have it picking up “immediately where Tobe Hooper’s original left off before flashing forward 35 years.” So does that mean it’ll ignore the events of the last two “TCM” reboots with Jessica Biel and Jordana Brewster?

Yeah, at this point I don’t think it matters. Sounds to me like the producers just want to put out a cheapie 3D horror flick and make some money. You can’t blame them, really. For every 3D horror film they put out that crashes and burns (“Drive Angry 3D”), there are two or three that makes a mint (like the last “Final Destination” movie).

I really hope that this uses the same timeline and characters from the remake and prequel. Both of those were very good. In fact the remake is one of my favorite movies. It’s much better than the original in my opinion. Andrew Brynarski is perfectly cast as Leatherface and R. Lee Ermy is terrific as the sherrif. I really liked the tone of both as well. Hopefully this will be just as good as those! “Do the dance Leatherface!”
