I still don’t know about director Zach Lipovsky’s upcoming “Leprechaun: Origins.” You’ll never hear me say that the original films were any good, but I will admit these flicks were endlessly enjoyable. The secret ingredient, of course, was Warwick Davis. He was the only reason to see these odd little slices of horror cinema, which makes me nervous about the reboot/remake. Extremely nervous, even.
Instead of Davis, we’re getting professional WWE wrestler Dylan “Hornswoggle” Postl. In place of cheesy comedy, we’re getting straightforward terror. The verdict is still out on this one, folks, but I’m trying to keep an open mind. Although we don’t have a release date or a proper synopsis to speak of, we do have this snazzy poster.
“Leprechaun: Origins” will likely arrive at some point later this year.
