The film stars Liam Hemsworth (younger brother of Chris, aka Thor of “The Avengers”) and Dwayne Johnson (formerly of The Rock), and “tells the true story of two pals in the 1980s who stole all the money stored at an armored car company.”
It’s also about the cop who tries to stop them (I’m guessing he fails, judging by the logline above), and being that Johnson and Hemsworth are probably too wide apart age-wise, and Johnson is wearing a badge around his neck, I’m going to go out on a limb and say Johnson is the cop who tries to stop Hemsworth from his nefarious scheme.
The film is currently being directed by Dito Montiel, who last helmed the Channing Tatum cop flick “The Son of No One”, and before that the Channing Tatum fighting flick “Fighting”. I wonder if Montiel swapped in Hemsworth when he couldn’t get the suddenly everywhere Tatum to star? If he had, it would be the second movie for Tatum and Johnson, who also co-stars in “G.I. Joe: Retaliation”.
“Empire State” also co-stars Emma Roberts, Nikki Reed, Michael Angarano, Chris Diamantopoulos, Jerry Ferrara, James Ransone, Gia Mantegna, and here’s your first look at Hemsworth and Johnson from the movie:
