Speaking of Liam Neeson, the man with the deadly specific set of skills won’t just be battling Albanians with revenge on their minds in “Taken 2” (see the first official pics from the movie here), he’ll also be taking a walk among the tombstones in a new movie called (wait for it, wait for it) “A Walk Among the Tombstones”.
Neeson will play Matt Scudder, “an ex-NYPD cop and unlicensed private detective and recovering alcoholic. He’s hired to find the kidnapped wife of a drug dealer. In the process, he discovers that the kidnappers have done this before and it has led to brutal murders.”
“A Walk Among the Tombstones” will be based on the book of the same name by Lawrence Block, who wrote a series of novels starring the Scudder character. This won’t be the first time Scudder was adapted for the screen, either. He was played by Jeff Bridges in 1986’s “8 Million Ways to Die”. Obviously, given the character’s adventures in a series of books, this has franchise potential.
Scott Frank (“Out of Sight”) will adapt the book for Exclusive Media and Cross Creek Pictures, and will direct from his own script. Production is set to begin sometime in February 2013.
“A Walk Among the Tombstones” is currently being sold at Cannes.
