The big comic book rumor this Friday has the clumsily titled “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” nabbing itself a lead villain — Liev Schreiber, aka the guy who knocked up Naomi Watts, will be playing the role of Creed, aka Sabretooth, Wolverine’s arch nemesis. The role was originally played by Tyler Mane in Bryan Singer’s first “X-Men” movie, but the character was so devoid of personality I’m sure no one will notice the change of actors.
The casting rumor hails from the sewer dwellers of CHUD:
This is the real deal, received from multiple sources, none of whom have ever led me astray. On the one hand I do have to say that Liev is not terribly Cox-ian (Brian Cox originated the role), so I was always skeptical on him as Stryker, but on the other hand Creed has never been one of the more electrifying characters in comics.
Schreiber will be facing off against Wolverine, played by Hugh Jackman, under the direction of Gavin Hood. Past rumors also had Maggie Q. joining the cast.
