Like Red? Then You’ll Like These New Thor Posters and Image

New poster and banner for Marvel’s “Thor”. I guess the use of red is in deference to Thor’s red cape. I guess. Curious that Idris Elba’s Heimdall gets the fourth and final spot on the “Thor” banner and not, you know, the villain Loki (Tom Hiddleston). Maybe they’re saving him for a second banner.

Thor spans the Marvel Universe from present day Earth to the realm of Asgard. At the center of the story is the mighty Thor, a powerful but arrogant warrior whose reckless actions reignite an ancient war. Thor is cast down to Earth by his father Odin and is forced to live among humans. A beautiful, young scientist, Jane Foster (Portman), has a profound effect on Thor, as she ultimately becomes his first love. It’s while here on Earth that Thor learns what it takes to be a true hero when the most dangerous villain of his world sends the darkest forces of Asgard to invade Earth.

Starring Natalie Portman, Chris Hemsworth, Idris Elba, Kat Dennings, Anthony Hopkins, Stellan Skarsgård, Ray Stevenson, Rene Russo, Tom Hiddleston, Jaimie Alexander, Clark Gregg, Colm Feore, Tadanobu Asano, Adriana Barraza, Joshua Dallas, Matt Battaglia and directed by Kenneth Branagh.

The God of Thunder gets red May 6, 2011.

THR also has an article on black actors in Hollywood, with a new image of Idris Elba as Heimdall:

i think its strange that a northern god is played by a black, and im not a racist, i have lot of foreign friends, im not even myself a white american.
i mean its bit strange cause i grew up with the comics and you just have the imagination of the chars. its the same as Thor would be played by an indian.
i mean if there would be chars in the Thor universe being black or whatever it would be no problem, like Hogun, which is played by an asian and an asian in the comic adaption.
like i said its just bit strange for a fan of the comic genre, no offense

Yeah I said the same and I am black. However seeing as how this isn’t actual Norse mythology, and the Asgardians aren’t really Gods persay, then it works for me.

Speaking of Elba as Heimdall (we are talking about Elba, right?), added a new pic of him in the post.

        • Helpa

oh i dont know the actor, but yes i meant him, well not him as a person i meant what i tried to explain before. thanks for the pics btw :)

I’ve had the feeling from the start that this will be a decent movie, but a terrible Thor movie. It just doesn’t feel like Thor and what we think of him in any way really. But as to Elba, he’s an awesome actor with great on screen presence so no matter who he plays I’m sure it’ll be badass and awesome!

The way I see it, if it isn’t a change in the main hero or villian then I can take it. Elba a great actor and he looks epic as Heimdall.

it shoulda been loki, not that guy

  • Juggernaut

Not having Loki on the banner is really stupid and disrespectful. He is the other main character and deserves notoriety and top billing… that and it makes sense!!!

Nice would have been a epic Poster , kinda like Star Wars,
Thor in the middle with Natalie Portman, head of Loki to the left, head of Odin to the right, in the background the Odin 4 Asgardians (with Sif).
and an army of Frost Giants.

I think the armors still looks bit to plastic, i wonder why they just didnt take normal armors, like in Lord of the Rings, or other Knight, Viking movies.
i guess cause they want to make it fit to iron man and captain america etc.

And im bit dissapointed with the Frost Giants, if u hear Giants and if u know the comics, you would have at least think of the size of a Troll in Lord of the Rings, kinda
like the monster in the 2nd Thor Trailer at the end.
but with those make up they look bit like vampires from buffy ;)

i think they missed the chance to make an epic movie out of this.
same with movies like: Dragon Ball, they could have made so much more out of this.

but still im looking forward to that movie cause its a real adaption and even if they are worse, im always looking forward to it, cause maybe it will be a postivie surprise, and better have a real one then nothing new in the genre.
