Lionsgate Signs Miller for Two Spirit Sequels?

By Nix | February 11, 2008 (10:37 pm)

Lionsgate either really, really likes what Frank Miller is doing with his big-screen adaptation of Will Eisner’s The Spirit, or they’re really, really getting ahead of themselves. News from SuperheroHype is that the studio has already inked Frank Miller, the writer and director of “The Spirit”, for two sequels to the as-yet-released superhero movie.

More:

“The Spirit” tells the visceral, action-packed story of a man (Gabriel Macht) who fakes his own death and fights crime from the shadows of Central City. The Octopus (Samuel L. Jackson) — who kills anyone unfortunate enough to see his face — has a different mission: he’s going to wipe out the entire city. The Spirit tracks this cold-hearted killer from Central City’s rundown warehouses, to the damp catacombs, to the windswept waterfront… all the while facing a bevy of beautiful women who either want to seduce, love or kill our masked crusader.

“The Spirit” stars Gabriel Macht, Samuel L. Jackson, Scarlett Johansson, Eva Mendes, Sarah Paulson, Paz Vega, Jamie King, Dan Lauria, Stana Katic, Johnny Simmons and Louis Lombardi.

It’s scheduled to open January 16, 2009.
