Its a director thing. They can’t always make the exact same storyline because of copy right issues. They get the names and minor, and I repeat, MINOR DETAILS! The directors just come up with a storyline as close and as realistic as possible. Roshi’s humor was way out of place, he is a perverted old man who is infatuated by almost every woman he sees, particularly Bulma. Goku’s personality could have been a lot more humoristic, and a lot less avengfull consider HE LOVES TO FIGHT! And if a different director made this like the ones who make harder, scruffier, and more ardcore action flicks they would have used different actors like Vin Diesel and Dalip Singh.

Goku is not Asian. He is an Alien from planet Vegeta. Its not like that planet is full of asians. Although it may be a Japaneses anime. And you forget, Goku was adopted by an old asian guy named Gohan. He was like a father figure that he never had and taught Goku most of his martial arts techniques. You’ve been proved wrong hater.

I agree with Keith, I meean, if they went by the actual animated storyline we couldn’t really enjoy it. We’d be like “Oh snap! I already know whats going to happen! THis is BULL-SH*T!”!!!!! All we could do is enjoy the modernized graphics while watching the same sh*t over and over again. There’d be no suspence, drama, or curiosity and prediction. The directors have to make something new in order to draw out those responces in us. Quit hating and accept the fact that its out of your god forsaken hands. Most of you actually think that the directors really give a F*CK about what we are saying over a free post internet cite. Get over it. Not every thing is going to go your way, and for the love of god, if you have some common sense, please type correctly so some of us fans can understand the oppinions that you type. Dnt do ths sht pls. It F*CKING annoying!

You think the movie is racist when it has character’s of several human races? If the characters were all one race would that make it racist?
Zhi Zhang is chinese and played a leading role in a memoirs of a geisha, a japanese story. An chinese actor is playing a japanese role, should the part have gone to a japanese actor as you would certainly consider this racist?

I’m a white girl in australia. I love anime, i love martial arts flicks and collect samurai swords. I know a lot of horrible white people, lebanese people, italian people, i was even teased by a few chinese kids in high school but i down hate them because of their nationality but because of the type of person they are.
I think you are small minded and are unable to see the bigger picture.

“Hell, this is what your country is founded upon” What country did you mean? There’s a lot of countries in the world and a lot of white people in them.

‘Asian’ isn’t always used in a bad way or dump a certain type of people in a category for the sake of it but what should i call my neighbour who i don;t know what race he is when he has black hair and small eyes and pale skin? I think the latter is the worst option.

Beowulf was awesome but the image of characters or based on real actors. We’d still end up with CGI DB movie with the same actors, the improvement they could make would be energy hits and flyin scenes, both were rare in DB might i add.

Ok, you think Goku looks asian. Considering that he is an ALIEN i think it’s a great coincidence that he even look human! Justin should have beefed up more and grown his hair longer and ditch the emo attitude but whoever was destined to play the part of Goku i doubt anyone could please the entire DB fanbase.

Well, no Vegeta. Surprise surprise, it turned out to be a spin on the dragonball story. I watched it, i liked it but i don’t think many other people will. Roshi’s humour was out of place, Goku’s humour was toned down, I wanted to punch Mai in the face throughout the entire film because i thought her role was useless.
Why didn’t that have Emperor Pilaf trying to take on planet Earth and introduce Goku as a young boy and have him grow up on screen? There are just two many gaps. I think the casting was alright, Piccolo was awesome and evil, how delightful! Yamcha’s role should have gone to a different actor. I’m an aussie white girl and i always imagine the characters would have been japanese. Vin Diesel would have been good in this flick!

Bulma is NOT asian. GET OVER IT. Her parents (dr briefs and mrs briefs) are clearly not asian. Since when are asians blonde……. Asian anime and manga characters alike actually are normally drawn to have some asian features, a good example would be ChiChi, if you were an artist or had any knowledge of drawing in the various styles of manga you would know this. And besides just because it was drawn or created by an asian doesnt mean the characters are asian or even live in japan at all.

i hate this as much as everyone else but if u guys would pay attention and stop looking at the bad part evil piccolo is dragonball not dbz in about another 2 years they will end up making a dragonballz movie and hopefully do better then this one witch if ur a true fan of dragonball z u would suck it up and go see the movie and enjoy it they didnt do to bad with this one just the actors are just alitte wrong but the effects are great

This is pathetic. Why is Bulma White? Way to go Hollywood. They could have had a fucking hot Asian cast, but they messed it up by making the two lead characters white. Now they’re going to RUIN the movie because they are NOTHING like the characters (Bulma was most definitely Asian. Whoever says “they didn’t look like it” is retarded and obviously has NOT seen much Anime or read any manga at all—rarely do they accent the ethnic features because they are supposed to be UNDERSTOOD, being MADE in Asia and all–unless it specifically says OTHERWISE in the series).

The white part of this cast is so pathetic.

Okay, would everyone please stop hating on the DB movie please. I know it’s not an exact adaption, but think about it logically for a second with an adult brain, A live action copy of an anime as ridiculously fictional as DB would suck horribly. Think of this new movie as a fresh new take on a classic tale that we all know and love. Sure there are differences, but there are always differences between live action adaptions and their source material. I could find dozens of differences between all of these comic book movies coming out and the stories they were all based on. For crap’s sake people, there are logical reasons for the changes made in the story, in order to make the characters more relatable to everyday people for instance. Who can relate to clueless, super strong child from the mountains? It’s easy to relate to a high school student with social problems because most of us have been there. So please stop crying my fellow DB fans, and just be happy they decided to revive this movie at all.
