Fox’s live-action TV series “Locke and Key”, based on the comic by Joe Hill, will be coming to you courtesy of “The Sarah Connor Chronicles” writer/producer Josh Friedman, who also penned the pilot episode. The pilot will have the distinction of being directed by movie guy Mark Romanek (“One Hour Photo”, “Never Let Me Go”), who will be making his TV debut on the project. It will also feature “Lord of the Rings'” Miranda Otto (left) headlining the cast.
The premise goes like this:
Based on Joe Hill’s comic, Locke & Key tells the story of Nina Locke (Otto) and her three children, Tyler, Kinsey, and Bode, who survive an unspeakable horror and attempt to rebuild their lives at Keyhouse, their family home in Lovecraft, Massachusetts. It is a mysterious New England mansion, with fantastic and transformative keys hidden inside its walls that are also being sought by a hate-filled and relentless creature with ties to the Locke family’s past who will stop at nothing to accomplish his sinister goals.
That’s the good news. The bad news? It’s airing on the Fox network, where aside from some very, very rare exceptions, is where cool genre shows go to die.
