Look! Piccolo Really is Green!

I don’t know what kind of alien badass this Piccolo fellow is in the original Japanese anime and manga and what have you, but when the first footage from James Wong’s “Dragonball” leaked all over the Innerwebs like something that leaks, and ol Piccolo didn’t look nearly green enough, the fanbase got pretty riled up, more riled up over a color (or lack thereof) than I’ve ever seen. As a non-Dragonball fan, It was kind of disturbing, actually. Now I haven’t a clue if Wong and company went in and “green up” Piccolo for the finished movie (since retitled “Dragonball: Evolution”), but the baldy alien sure looks pretty green to me in these new behind-the-scenes photos featuring James Marsters as Piccolo and Eriko Tamura as Mai. Also, as an added bonus, Joon Park strikes a pose as Yamcha.

The story begins with Goku, who seeks out upon his adoptive grandfather Grandpa Gohan’s dying request to find the great Master Roshi and gather all seven Dragon Balls. Of which he has one, in order to prevent the evil Lord Piccolo from succeeding in his desire to use the Dragon Balls to take over the world. And Goku’s quest is to obtain the mystical Dragonballs before Piccolo does.
