Lots of Shiny Asgardian Armor in New Batch of Thor Images

Marvel Studio’s big-budget thunderous movie strikes May 6, 2011, but until then, here is a new batch of “Thor” images featuring lots and lots of Asgardian badasses like Chris Hemsworth as Thor, the Warriors Three, and Jaimie Alexander as Lady Sif looking all fine and dandy in their kinda plastic-y looking armor. Maybe they’ll look better in the movie? One can only hope.

Thor spans the Marvel Universe from present day Earth to the realm of Asgard. At the center of the story is the mighty Thor, a powerful but arrogant warrior whose reckless actions reignite an ancient war. Thor is cast down to Earth by his father Odin and is forced to live among humans. A beautiful, young scientist, Jane Foster (Portman), has a profound effect on Thor, as she ultimately becomes his first love. It’s while here on Earth that Thor learns what it takes to be a true hero when the most dangerous villain of his world sends the darkest forces of Asgard to invade Earth.

Starring Natalie Portman, Chris Hemsworth, Idris Elba, Kat Dennings, Anthony Hopkins, Stellan Skarsgård, Ray Stevenson, Rene Russo, Tom Hiddleston, Jaimie Alexander, Clark Gregg, Colm Feore, Tadanobu Asano, Adriana Barraza, Joshua Dallas, Matt Battaglia and directed by Kenneth Branagh.

I really don’t see the problem with the armor. It looks pretty good. Overall, the tone and look of this movie far exceeds the expectations that I had when I first heard that they were making a big screen Thor film.

Agreed! I wasn’t expecting Lord of The Rings. The scifi slant lends to Kirby and Simonson’s designs brought into the real world. I’m really looking forward to this one. The Shakespearean tone is perfect for Branagh’s direction and the cast is top notch mostly. Marvel has another hit with this one.
