Luke Perry and Uwe Boll Brings the Storm

German filmmaking wunderkind Uwe Boll has gone from making period action movies with obscene budgets starring A-listers like Jason Statham to making post-apocalyptic thrillers with a $5 million dollar budget starring Luke Perry. And oh yeah, Lauren Holly of NCIS fame has also joined in on the fun, which finds Perry playing a “mysterious stranger” and Holly playing a (probably) very hot mom who ends in the middle of the end of the world. See, and you thought your biggest worry was driving the kids to and from soccer practice! Lauren Holly has to deal with the end of the world and the stigma of having starred in a “Uwe Boll movie”!

In the apocalyptic thriller, Holly plays a dedicated wife and mother who must deal with the end of days scenario — all heightened by the arrival of a mysterious stranger named Silas (Perry) who holds the key to the approaching doom.

The movie, budgeted in the $5 million range, is shooting in Vancouver. Boll is directing and producing. Brightlight Pictures’ Stephen Hegyes and Shawn Williamson also are producing.

I can’t believe people are still giving Uwe Boll money to make movies. Has any of this guy’s movies ever made a profit? “Postal”? “Blood Rayne”? The as-yet-unreleased “Far Cry”?
