Magic Mike Trailer, In Which Channing Tatum Plays a Male Stripper with a Thong of Gold

Gotta admit, it’s not nearly as bad as I thought it would be. I’m surprised Steven Soderbergh has gone so heavily romcom-ish with this one, especially after the head-knocking actioner “Haywire”. But hey, I guess that’s why he’s Steven Soderbergh and we’re not. Man wants to do what the man wants to do, and the man apparently wanted to do a sweet, coming-of-age stripper movie starring Channing Tatum. Who are we to say he can’t? The whole thing is apparently based on a story Tatum came up with, based on his own experiences as a male stripper. I’m guessing Pettyfer is playing the Tatum role, but that’s just a guess.

Set in the world of male strippers, “Magic Mike” is directed by Steven Soderbergh and stars Channing Tatum. The film follows Mike (Tatum) as he takes a young dancer called The Kid (Pettyfer) under his wing and schools him in the fine arts of partying, picking up women, and making easy money.

Channing Tatum, Alex Pettyfer, Matthew McConaughey, Matt Bomer, Joe Mangianello, Olivia Munn, Riley Keough, Cody Horn, and Adam Rodriguez.

Taking it all off for your sick pleasures June 29, 2012.

It looks like “Cocktail” w/ thongs and assless chaps, which coming from Soderbergh could be freaking genius. By the way, I’m calling this as this summer’s “Star Wars for Women.” Every woman I know and every female co-worker has this movie on their must-see list already
