Magnet Releasing, the genre arm of Magnolia Pictures, have announced that they’ve acquired the Thai action movie “Bangkok Knockout” for Stateside consumption. The film is from Panna Rittikrai and the studio that gave you other ass kicking good times like the “Ong Bak” movies, “The Bodyguard”, and “Born to Fight”. You know, films that pretty much assures you that there is no such thing as a Thai Stuntman’s Union in Thailand.
So what’s it about? Who knows. As far as I can tell, there is no dialogue or anything resembling a story in this trailer for “Bangkok Knockout”, and you know what? I don’t think any of you will care whatsoever. The guys who cut the trailer sure don’t think you care, that’s pretty obvious.
The film’s tagline is, “They do things no one dares.” Like douse yourself with gasoline, get set on fire, then burst through a wall. Or jump in front of a moving car. Or let some dude jump and kick you in the face while going 100 miles an hour. You know, cool stuff like that, that you’re probably too chicken to try. Chicken!
Ahem. Magnet has the film scheduled for a 2011 release Stateside, but Thais will be able to see it first in December.
