Maiara Walsh is No Emma Stone, but She’ll Play One in Amazon’s Zombieland TV Series

Emma Stone in Zombieland (2009) Movie ImageTV actress Maiara Walsh (“Switched at Birth”, “The Vampire Diaries”) has landed the role of Wichita in online e-tailer giant Amazon.com’s burgeoning foray into scripted TV production “Zombieland”, based on the 2009 hit horror/comedy by director Ruben Fleischer.

She’ll play the role originally assayed by Emma Stone in the feature film of the same name.

The TV show is expected to continue the adventures of Wichita, a tough-on-the-outside, sweet-on-the-inside conwoman trying to take care of her little sister Little Rock when the zombie apocalypse happens. The girls, along with strangers Columbus and Tallahassee, form a unit in order to survive a planet overrun with the undead.

Hilarity, as they say, ensue.

Walsh (who also co-starred in the direct-to-DVD sequel “Mean Girls 2″) joins the previously cast Izabela Vidovic (playing Little Rock) and Tyler Ross (playing Columbus). Still uncast is Tallahassee, the surly gun-toting badass originally played by Woody Harrelson in the Fleischer movie. Like Wichita, Tallahassee is also tough-on-the-outside, but sweet-on-the-inside. There’s a lot of that going around in this movie.

Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, who wrote the originally film, developed the TV series and are producing.

Casting is decent so far for the tv show, but would’ve rather they followed some other characters, and had cameos from the stars in like a 2-3 episode arc.

I wanted a sequel for the movie, not a tv series!

    Let’s see how that goes…
