As a crappy horror movie fan, even I am surprised that I haven’t really given the “Friday the 13th” franchise a real shot. I’ve seen sequels here and there, but I have yet to see the original in its entirety, although I have seen the last “Friday the 13th” sequel — you know, the one set in space? In any case, Michael Bay’s production company recently announced that they were remaking the further adventures of Jason Voorhees, and now we know who will be directing the project and a little more about the movie. According to the blokes over at Bloody-Disgusting, Marcus Nispel, who previously helmed Bay’s remake of “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre” for the company, will be taking charge of the Voorhees killings as well.

A little bit more about the remake’s plot:

The remake will focus on Jason Voorhees — who will wear the infamous mask and kill — and keep the famous setting of Crystal Lake. This news is pretty huge as the film will in fact be filming during the strike.

And oh yeah, I can also count the “Freddy vs. Jason” as part of my “Friday the 13th” viewing history. That does count as an official “Friday the 13th” movie, right?
