Mark Wahlberg and Joaquin Phoenix are brothers in New York City, one a cop (like their dad) and the other an up-and-coming nightclub owner versus the Russian mob. WHO YA GOT??? If you’ve seen the trailer for “We Own the Night”, then you might be siding with the brothers. Then again, we are talking about the Russian mob, here, and these guys are pretty hardcore. There’s an interesting article at the L.A. Times about Gray’s quest to get the movie made. A very good read, indeed.

The film co-stars Eva Mendes and Robert Duvall and is directed James Gray (”The Yards”, also with Wahlberg). The film gets its debut in Cannes soon and should be coming to the States post-haste. It looks like a winner, and everyone seems to believe it can be the next “The Departed”.
