Looks like those transforming alien robots from outer space are going to have their hands full when they try to conquer Earth in 2014, because they’re going to have one pissed off city boy in Mark Wahlberg to deal with. Yup, it’s true — after first denying rumors that he was talking with Wahlberg about the movie, then seeming to soften on the idea, Bay and Paramount have now officially cast Wahlberg as the lead in “Transformers 4″, which is now set for a June 27, 2014 release date.
Says Bay about the casting of his “Pain and Gain” buddy:
Mark is awesome. We had a blast working on “Pain and Gain” and I’m so fired up to be back working with him. An actor of his caliber is the perfect guy to re-invigorate the franchise and carry on the Transformers’ legacy.
Still no word on the plot of “Transformers 4″, but I’m guessing you can dismiss those previous rumors that had the film following a Texas high school girl and her racing boyfriend. One, Wahlberg is way too old to be playing the boyfriend of a high school girl, and two, I’m expecting him to play someone, you know, more badass than some dude who races cars in Texas for a living. No offense to people who races cars in Texas for a living.
