Previously reported as being sought for one of the two main male leads in the comic book movie “2 Guns”, Mark Wahlberg’s name has resurfaced again. This time around, Universal is trying to get Wahlberg to star, and his “Contraband” director Baltasar Kormakur to step behind the camera for their comic book adaptation of “2 Guns”. I honestly have no idea why the studio is so gung ho about getting this movie made, but man, they sure aren’t giving up easy.
Variety says the pair are currently in negotiations to star and direct the film, respectively, which would then need a second actor to fill the second male lead. Vince Vaughn was previously attached to one of the roles before dropping out.
“2 Guns”, based on a limited series comic book by Steven Grant, follows a DEA agent and a Naval Intelligence Officer who unwittingly steal a fortune from the mob. They end up on the run together, and, we presume, the usual assortment of buddy cop action nonsense ensue.
David O. Russell, who was previously attached to direct, rewrote the script by Blake Masters.
