Marvel Considering a Doctor Strange Movie

Doctor Strange: The Live-action Movie? Hey, why not. Look at that guy Blade. He didn’t just get his own movie, he got his own movies, plus a TV show to boot. Sure, the TV show was quickly canceled, but that’s probably because they hired some dude name Sticky Fingaz to replace Wesley Snipes than anything else. (Seriously. Sticky Fingaz?) A Doctor Strange movie, on the other hand, would work, mostly because it’s different than all the other characters Marvel has brought to the big screen so far. According to Marvel Studios’ President of Production Kevin Feige, don’t be surprise if a “Doctor Strange” movie is announced very soon.

“Very much so,” Feige said. “I’d say in the next year, year and a half, as we start putting together our film slate for 2012 and 2013, I would not be shocked if we saw Dr. Strange on those lists. I love the idea of taping into the magical realm of the Marvel Universe, which is fairly significant and hasn’t yet seen life on screen.

“It’s something I’m very, very interested in,” he emphasized.

It would give Marvel Studios a notable comic book character come to life, and provide their Marvel film universe with a different angle — the magic side, instead of the high-tech and brute side ala “Iron Man” and “Hulk”.

Below: Doctor Strange has battled everyone at least once or twice in the comics, including a beatdown with the Hulk ala the recent World War Hulk storyline.
