Thor Comic BookNow that Patty Jenkins has pulled a banana and split “Thor 2″, Marvel needs a new director to helmeth the God of Thundereth’s second installmenteth.

And they’re looking into TVland for a replacement. The current going rumor has the comic book movie studio eyeballing two TV directors for the plush gig — Alan Taylor and Daniel Minahan.

Both prospective directors have respected careers in premium cable TV, including episodes of “Game of Thrones”, “Boardwalk Empire”, “The Sopranos”, “True Blood”, and “Deadwood”. Not surprisingly given its popularity with critics and audiences, it seems that everyone who has ever helmed an episode of “Game of Thrones” is moving on to bigger and better gigs.

Besides a new director, Marvel is also looking to hire some extra writers to hash out the script, but never you mind who they are. It’s not like any of them will really matter to you, right? Hell, most of you probably still think actors make up their line as they go, don’t you?

Anyhoo. “Thor 2″ is already slated for a November 15, 2013 release date, after the God of Thunder does his “Avengers” due in 2012.

I see where they’re going with this but these people aren’t even in the same league as Brannaugh. I hope that whoever is piocked can handle the sequel with the same balance of fantasy and grandeur that the first one had.
