Been wondering when Marvel’s “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” will kick off the start of production? Well wonder no more, wonderers. Marvel has officially announced the commencing of principal photography on their “Captain America” sequel today, and released the above image for your perusal pleasure.
From the sounds of the synopsis below, it looks like the Captain will be teaming up with the Black Widow for the sequel. Makes sense, given the film’s Russian-themed storyline:
“Captain America: The Winter Soldier” will pick-up where “Marvel’s The Avengers” left off, as Steve Rogers struggles to embrace his role in the modern world and teams up with Natasha Romanoff, aka Black Widow, to battle a powerful yet shadowy enemy in present-day Washington, D.C.
The film will shoot in Los Angeles, California, before moving onto locations in Cleveland, Ohio, and Washington D.C.
Brothers Anthony and Joe Russo (“Welcome to Collinwood”) will direct from a screenplay by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely.
Chris Evans returns as the good Captain, along with Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow and Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury. We also now know that Robert Redford will play a character name Agent Alexander Pierce, described as “a senior leader within the S.H.I.E.L.D. organization.”
“Captain America: The Winter Soldier” battles enemies overseas and abroad this April 4, 2014.
